Great Leadership Evolves from Right Focus

One of the great pleasures I have in life is witnessing powerful women and men passionately pursuing the desire to make the impact they are here to make. They are shifting from the exhausting efforts of a “doing” based reality and opening themselves up to the real, true and fervent call to BE who they really are. They are accepting this change as a total life shift. It’s personal AND professional because it’s about them as a WHOLE person. The same shift is occurring in companies as well. Awakened leaders are driving the change. Are you one of them?

Have you ever felt completely scattered and un-grounded even though you have the longest “to do” this in the world, you know exactly WHAT to do, projects to complete, tasks yet to deligate at work, and even more to do at home, family.. and ya know.. life? And even though your focus is on the things you know needs done, it doesn’t make life feel any more together, successful, joyful or fulfilled?

Well, I understand that feeling. It’s the game of “doing everything I think I need to do to succeed” instead of “being who I am to create” Whether it is an individual or a team, that game can be played over and over and over until what seems to be a great loss breaks the cycle.

Sometimes without knowing it, a leader and an entire team can be focused on the result instead of the cause or what I call right focus.

What seems like a simple directive can derail an entire project, drain expenses and lead the individual or collective right down the path where the creation they were planning to build simply failed to come to fruition. The effects of getting lost in the task-driven doing that is associated with not having the right focus is down right defeating. This old way of working has got to go! This leaves individuals and companies stuck not creating what they really want and an unfulfilled purpose.

You might be wondering right now, how do I or we align to right focus?

First off, let me tell you what it’s not! The right focus is NOT the result of any cause (purpose/why). For example, profits have been a focus of companies for sometime, instead of the purpose/cause they are here for. That is not having “right focus.” So they focus on profit and push ACHIEVEMENT and PRODUCTION on leaders and teams. It drives individuals to do more more more, achieve more and more!! Produce more and …well, are you nodding your head yet? I hear you. You know this. You have experienced the exhaustion of working for a company who does not have right focus, or it’s been YOU who does not have right focus.

When an individual or business knows their why/cause/purpose then their focus can become geared towards WHAT they are being instead of what they are DOING. You see, doing or action that is not aligned to purpose is empty, somewhat like dead energy. It doesn’t get you any closer to fulfilling the purpose. It only gets you results in more efforting/doing that leads no where.

A great leader,  or one who has done their work and who understands the flow of creating and is in REAL RELATIONSHIP with their cause or purpose will ask questions that sound like this: If we are showing up from our true cause, what does it feel like for us to connect to our customer? What does our customer feel? What are they feeling before they connect with us? What are we BEING when we connect to the customer and WHAT are we creating when we connect to our customer? How does this support US in our cause so that we BECOME THE CAUSE? Normally, we are obsessed with ideas of what do we need to do to make the money, or complete the project or grow the business. These are ALL important, of course, but it is NOT where your actions and focus should be based.

A company, team or individual who is aligned to cause and who have the right focus will automatically unlock personal potential, create greater achievement and production without having to overwork.  TRUE INSPIRED ACTION arises automatically from having the right focus. This will create collaboration, cooperation and safety and THAT is what LEADS to the completion of the goal which unlocks the success and fulfillment. It is NOT the push and pressure to achieve more, do more, produce more that gets it done. Right focus will ALWAYS benefit each collective part equality. So if you are experiencing an unhappy customer who lacks the change you promised but you are happy with your profit, then YOU are not in the right focus. Right focus generates power and equality for everyone. The company will equally make money as the customer is satisfied. Or the employee will equally be supported as the company grows production. Remember, right focus will always generate a one for all, and all for one result which means the WHOLE benefits not just some of the parts.

This IS the integration we are in currently in our workplaces, in our individual hearts and minds. We are in the integration of letting go of “thinking what we need to do” and stepping into the true REAL power of “being who we are” to evolve and create our sustainable future.

So sit back, relax and ask yourself: Where is my focus? What IS my right focus? Do I know enough to answer these questions?

If not, you may benefit from further exploration into your purpose/why so you can clearly define WHAT am I being or WHAT are we being that helps us hold the right focus that in turn helps us carry out the right action.

Lead on!

I am with you,
